INDIVIDUAL THERAPY FOR CHRONIC PAIN
Dr. Ridenour adheres to the biopsychosocial model that acknowledges that psychological, social, and environmental factors are parts of chronic pain. Examining these can lead to more meaningful diagnosis and better treatment outcomes. Comprehensive pain models that include the psychologist also help to convey an environment in which the patient is treated as whole.
Also, a treatment approach based on the cognitive-behavioral perspective can help to deal with current pain, its effects on all aspects of life, as well as the pain that remains after other treatment methods are completed. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is an important complement to pharmacological, physical, and/or surgical interventions.
